Description

El Tesoro x Old Town Tequila Reposado Single Barrels 40 & 41 Combo contains 2x 750ml bottles our private single barrel reposado tequilas.  This time we were so torn by the wonderful flavors that we did two!

Barrel 40 is a full bodied reposado aged in ex-bourbon barrels with a proof of 40.1%

  • Nose: Chamomile, mint, caramel, toffee.
  • Palate: Fresh oak, fermentation, fresh wood, coffee, cinnamon and prunes.

Barrel 41 is a medium body reposado aged in ex-bourbon barrels with a proof of 40.7%

  • Nose: Coffee, vanilla, caramel, cooked agave, nuts
  • Palate: Oak, cooked agave, salty notes, fresh oak, lots of flavorings from the ex-bourbon barrel

***we are only selling the private barrels in this combo so you can try both together and to compare and discover how unique each barrel can be***

40 was the only one we enjoyed.

Amazed at the different quality between 40 and 41. The 40 batch was great for shots! 41 batch will remain on the shelf Indefinitely …. Not worthy of my shot glass!

    NIce Value

Single Barrel selections from El Tesoro have been a solid buy in 2021. This one is no exception. The two are not remotely similar surprisingly enough. The 40 Barrel brings the heat, with a more Agave forward note. The 41 Barrel is considerably more floral with decidedly less heat (my favorite of the two). If you want to appreciate both the distiller and his work, then this offering is a very good place to start. Recommended.
