Hacienda del SIL HACIENDA DE CHIHUAHUA SOTOL ANEJO
Very nice smoky flavor, smooth on the front transitioning into the smoke and a pleasant finish. Very nice neat or on the rocks

First time with Sotol!
I saw a feature on TV about Sotol, and thought I'd give it a try. This is GREAT stuff (coming from a dedicated Tequila drinker). A bit of a "grassy" flavor, but deep and flavorful. Very much worth a try!

Smoother than it has any right to be
Honestly, I had a bunch of reasons for getting this. I remember researching sotols a long time ago and never got to try the bottle I bought back then. Honestly for the price, this has no right to be as smooth a sipping tequila variant as it turned out to be. Nice, but mellow, flavor and minimal bite.

Hacienda de chihuahua Sotol Anejo
This "sipping tequila" is unbelievably flavorful and complex. Absolutely a delight!

Hacienda De Chihuahua Sotol An~ejo
Terrific representation of the spirit when it has been aged. Color is only marginally deeper than the reposado. Nose gives you vanilla, butterscotch and spice notes, but they never overpower the herbal agave scent. Taste is very smooth with minimal heat. Again with the sweet vanilla & butterscotch notes, but not at the expense of the peppery agave flavor. As good as any an~ejo tequila on the market and at a fair price. Bravo!

I highly recommend it
I think this is one of the most interesting Mexican liquors you can buy, and also one of the best values. It is made from a different plant than agave, and has a unique taste all its own. I think Hacienda De Chihuahua does a fabulous job producing sotol, and their anejo is the sweet spot in their line-up (I've tried them all). If you're interested in trying new delicious things, definitely get a bottle.

Anejo
Delicate. Clean. Flavorful. Excellent.

Dissapointing
The anejo is lacking in flavor. The reposado is my favorite of all Sotol brands. Perhaps the triple distillation removes much of the flavor contained in the reposado. If you lake Sotol buy the Hacienda de Chihuahua reposado.
